Hey Ed, introduce yourself and Wearth…

Hello! I’m Ed and I am the co-founder of Wearth. Launched in 2017 with our other co-founder, Imogen Minoli, Wearth is an online platform for eco-friendly and ethical products. From zero waste, homewares to gifts, we proudly partner with over 250 independent conscious UK brands and work closely with our brands to help them grow and make it easier for consumers to shop consciously. 

Spell it out for us! What is Wearth’s mission?

We came up for the idea around 4 years ago now when we were learning about how our own lifestyle habits influenced the environment, we wanted to make positive changes, especially around reducing waste, where we could but find it difficult. A particular challenge was finding eco-friendly products which aligned with our values whilst also being high quality and contemporary. We did a deep dive into the internet and saw there were lots of great sustainable brands out there but they were difficult to find. With this, Wearth’s mission is simple, to make it as easy as possible to buy greener products whilst championing like-minded brands who have the environment at the core of their ethos. 

 
 

How is Wearth helping people choose better for the planet?

Something which is a very important for us here at Wearth is to promote positivity and encourage people to make swaps where they can. Life is busy and hard, its ok not to be able to be this perfect eco-warrior. We believe that if we can help push eco-friendly into the mainstream and encourage lots of people to make swaps where they can, then this can create significant change. This is why we chose a marketplace model where we could have lots of different products and brands all under one store to make it simple and convenient to make informed purchasing decisions and live a little greener. 

Give us the low-down on Wearth and product packaging…

From the outset packaging and keeping waste to a minimum has been one of our main aims with Wearth. For example for our beauty department, we partner with brands who have glass, aluminium or paper packaging and keep plastic to a minimum. Likewise our zero waste and toiletries department and filled with lots of reusable and package free options, great for reducing the need for plastic. We recently also launched our refill department, here there are lots of refillable options which help to reduce the carbon footprint of the product. We have lots of these products in our own homes here at Wearth and the great thing is when you run out of hand soap or cleaning products, you can easily refill and get on with your day. 

What, do you believe, is the Wearth’s strongest sync with CanO Water?

There’s definitely lots of alignments with Wearth and CanO, it’s difficult to single one out. I would say it is the ambition of trying to make greener choices mainstream by making it more convenient and accessible. At the end of the day, this will be key if we have a chance of building a more sustainable society. 

What’s the most shocking plastic statistic you’ve ever read?

One of the stats which has shocked/inspired us to do more is the fact around there likely being more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050!

 
 

Can you give us any insight into Wearth’s future plans?

We never stand still here at Wearth and are always looking to develop to have a bigger impact. One thing we are looking at is developing our refill system to promote the circular economy as well as generally how we can help to further reduce consumer waste. Being a content resource to help inspire people is also important to us and we will be investing in building out our content platform to help achieve this.
